Books and stock · Rs 1,500 a month£5 a month$6 a month · English and Urdu

Your books, kept as you go. The calculator can retire.

Ledger is accounting and stock for small businesses, Pakistan first. Send invoices with sales tax, record supplier bills and expenses, and see who owes you what, what the stock is worth and this month's profit, without sitting down with a calculator. Proper double entry underneath, everyday words on top, in English and Urdu.

How it works

Three steps. Ledger does the adding up.

  1. 1You

Set up in a few minutes

Say where the business is and when its year starts. The accounts, the tax rates and your cash and bank come ready for your market. Bring customers, suppliers, stock and what's owed from a spreadsheet, QuickBooks, Xero or Zoho.

  2. 2You, or your till

    Record it as it happens

Send an invoice, enter a supplier's bill, note an expense paid from the drawer, mark what came in. Or connect Register, Offr or Trazr, and their sales, refunds, expenses and bills post themselves.

  3. 3Ledger

    It adds itself up

Who owes you and for how long, what you owe, what the stock is worth, profit and loss, the tax figures. Your accountant signs in with their own login, checks it and locks the month.

Who it's for

For businesses that have outgrown the khata. And the accountant who untangles it.

Shops, traders and wholesalers

Stock and credit, adding up

  • Every bag, tin and box in and out, valued at what you paid on average.
  • Customers on credit, with what each owes and for how long: the khata, adding itself up.
  • Invoices in English or Urdu. Sales tax line by line, with your NTN and STRN on topVAT line by line, with your VAT number on topYour own tax rates line by line, with your tax number on top.
  • Cash, bank and wallet balances, matched with the bank's statement.

Freelancers and service businesses

Invoice, get paid, see what's left

  • Invoices for your time and services, with reminders and a link the customer opens.
  • Expenses with a photo of the receipt kept on each one.
  • Profit and loss for any dates, ready when someone asks.
  • No stock to keep if you don't sell any.

Accountants and bookkeepers

A login of their own, and real books

  • The accountant role: the books, the reports, journals and the lock date, without the team or the plan.
  • Double entry underneath: the trial balance, the general ledger and the balance sheet.
  • Lock a month once it's checked, so nothing dated on or before it changes.
  • Every report as a CSV, for the working papers.

Meet Leo

Stuck? Ask Leo. He knows which account it goes in.

Leo is Ledger's helper. He's with you from the first time you sign in, he teaches the Learning Centre, and he answers from the corner of every page. He never moves money: he drafts, you decide.

  • Shows you round on day one

The first time you sign in, he walks you round Ledger a page at a time, then offers to set the first things up with you.

  • Teaches the Learning Centre

37 short lessons, a few minutes each, with a Try it that opens the real page. Open to anyone, no account needed.

  • Answers from the corner of the app

Ask how to do something and he tells you, then points at the right button. Ask him to draft an invoice and he shows it on a card first. Nothing changes until you approve it.

Bring your own AI

Ask Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini about your books

Connect the assistant you already use from Settings → AI tools: copy Ledger's link, paste it in, sign in and choose Allow. It works as you, with your role, and whatever it drafts waits for a person to make it real.

  • Profit, balances and the tax summary
  • Who owes what, and what you owe
  • Invoices, bills, expenses and payments
  • Draft invoices and bills
  • Customers and suppliers
  • Products and services
  • Your business details and logo

What AI never touches

Some things are kept from AI assistants on purpose, Leo included. Ledger gives them no way to do these, whatever they're asked. They stay with you, in Ledger:

  • Issuing, sending or voiding an invoice or a bill (an assistant only drafts them)
  • Recording or allocating a payment, an expense or a transfer
  • Journals, opening balances, stock adjustments and reconciling the bank
  • Payroll: anyone's pay, approving, paying or voiding a pay run, payslips, and paying over the tax withheld
  • The books' settings (the lock date, the financial year), the chart of accounts and tax rates, the currency and time zone
  • The payment instructions and bank details on invoices, and switching on reminder emails to customers
  • Connecting Register, Offr, Trazr or any other app
  • Connecting, renewing or disconnecting a bank feed
  • Exports and downloads, and the team's own notes on customers and suppliers
  • Deleting, archiving or erasing anything
  • Your Ledger plan and billing
  • Team logins: inviting people, changing roles, removing someone
  • Handing the business to a new owner, or closing it
  • Your own account: password, email, signing out

Features

Everything the books need. Nothing they don't.

Invoices with the tax worked out

Sales tax line by line, with your NTN and STRN on topVAT line by line, with your VAT number on topYour own tax rates line by line, with your tax number on top. A PDF by email in your customer's language, and a link they can open. Paid, part paid and overdue are worked out from what's come in.

Bills and expenses

A supplier's bill with its due date, or an expense paid there and then from cash or the bank. Photograph the receipt and it stays on the record.

Who owes what, and for how long

Each customer's and supplier's balance, read from the books, and how old it is: current, 1–30, 31–60, 61–90 and over 90 days. Reminder emails if you want them.

Stock at average cost

Bills bring stock in at what you paid; invoices take it out at the average. What the stock is worth and what your sales cost you are always there. Counts for when the shelf disagrees.

Cash and bank

Cash, bank accounts and wallets, each with its running balance. Upload the bank's statement and match it line by line, or turn a line into an expense or a payment on the spot.

The reports your accountant asks for

Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, trial balance, general ledger, aging, sales by customer and by item, the tax summary. Any dates, and a CSV of each.

Your team, and your accountant

Up to 25 people, each with their own login: the owner, admins, an accountant for the books and the lock date, and staff for sales.

English and Urdu, all the way through

Every page, report and email in both. Each person picks their own language, and each customer gets their invoice in theirs.

Bring your books across

From QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho or a spreadsheet: customers, suppliers, items, the chart of accounts, opening balances, invoices and bills. Every row checked before anything goes in.

Connected

Already on Register, Offr or Trazr? Then the typing's done.

Connect them from Settings → Connected apps, and Ledger reads each one's sales, refunds, expenses and supplier bills every minute and posts them to your books. The selling app keeps its own shelf: Ledger values the stock from it and never writes anything back. Disconnect, and what's posted stays.

  • Register

    The till

Each sale and how it was paid, refunds and voids, expenses from the drawer, supplier bills

  • Offr

    The online shop

Orders and their payments, refunds, and what each one cost you

  • Trazr

    Bookings

Paid bookings and deposits, refunds and no-show fees

A till at the counter

Ledger doesn't ring up sales at a counter. Register does, and once it's connected its sales post themselves here.

Stock is counted in whole units: 10 bags, 12 tins, never 2.5 kg. Selling loose? Count it in the smallest unit you sell.

FAQ

Asked before signing up

I keep a khata or a spreadsheet. Is Ledger for me?

Yes: that's who it's for. What your customers owe, what you owe your suppliers and what's on the shelf come across as opening balances, typed in or straight from the spreadsheet, and from then on Ledger adds them up for you. No accounting words needed: you say who bought what, and the debits and credits happen underneath.

Do I need to know accounting?

No. Ledger speaks in everyday words: who owes you, what you owe, what came in, what went out. The double entry is underneath for when your accountant wants it: the chart of accounts, journals, the trial balance and the general ledger.

Can my accountant work in it?

Yes. Invite them from Settings → Team as an accountant: they get the books, the reports, journals and the lock date, and they can export, but not your team, your plan or the business's settings. An accountant on your team is one team member, Rs 150 a month.Yes. Invite them from Settings → Team as an accountant: they get the books, the reports, journals and the lock date, and they can export, but not your team, your plan or the business's settings. Its tax summary gives the figures for any dates (tax charged by rate, tax paid on purchases and the difference), and whoever files your return takes it from there.

Can I bring my books from QuickBooks, Xero or Zoho?

Yes. Export from them as CSV or Excel and Ledger's import recognises their column names: customers, suppliers, items, the chart of accounts, opening balances, invoices, bills and expenses. Every row is checked and shown to you before anything goes in, and you fix a problem on its row. It's an import, not a copy of the old system: attachments, audit history and settings don't come across.

Does it connect to my bank?

Not by itself. Download your bank's statement as CSV or Excel and upload it: Ledger suggests a match for each line from your books, and a line it can't match you can turn into an expense, a payment or a transfer there and then. In Pakistan no bank offers small businesses a feed to connect to, so this is how it works everywhere.

I use Register, Offr or Trazr. Do I type my sales in twice?

No. Connect them from Settings → Connected apps and their sales, refunds, expenses and supplier bills post themselves every minute, into the right accounts. You choose which money account each way of being paid lands in. Ledger never writes back to them, and disconnecting keeps everything already posted.

Is it really in Urdu?

Yes: every page, report and email, in everyday Urdu. Each person on the team picks their own language, and each customer gets their invoice PDF in theirs. The layout stays the same either way, so switching never moves a button.

Can ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini use my books?

Yes, if you connect one from Settings → AI tools. It can read your reports and balances, look through your invoices and bills, draft invoices and bills, and add customers, suppliers and items. It can never issue or void a document, record or allocate money, post a journal, reconcile, change the lock date, connect an app, export or delete anything: those stay with you.

What happens after the free week?

Subscribe from Settings → Billing whenever you're ready. If the 7 days end without a plan, nothing is deleted: the books go read-only, everything is still there to read, and you carry on where you left off the moment you subscribe.

Where are my books kept?

In the UK, on Amazon Web Services in London, travelling encrypted to and from your browser. Every record carries the business it belongs to, checked on every request, and the privacy policy says who else handles what.
