Lesson 2 of 3 · 2 min

Uploading your bank statement

Download your statement as CSV or Excel and upload it to the account: most lines match themselves. Why there's no automatic feed.

  1. From your bank's website or app, download the statement as CSV or Excel (.xlsx). In Banking, open the account, press Upload a statement and choose the file. Ledger works out which column is the date, the description and the money (one Amount column, or Money out and Money in), and shows them under Which column is which for you to check.
  2. Upload a statement

Press Upload and, as it lands, a line that's the same money as exactly one entry in your books, a few days either side, is matched straight away. Upload overlapping statements without worry: lines already in from an earlier upload are skipped. Then Start matching the rest.
  3. Why not an automatic bank feed? Ledger doesn't connect to banks by itself yet: no bank in Pakistan offers that to small businesses, so there's none in this version, anywhere. A statement once a week or once a month takes a minute.

Try it

Opens Ledger. You'll be asked to sign in first; new businesses get a free week, no card needed.
