Lesson 1 of 5 · 3 min

Products and services

What you sell: products are counted on the shelf, services aren't. Each has its price, tax rate and unit.

  1. Items → Products

Items, then Products: everything you sell and buy that you can count, with its Sale price, what's On hand and its Average cost. Press New product to add one.
  2. New product opens its own page. Under Description, its Name; under Price & tax, its Sale price, its Usual cost, its Unit (bag, tin, kg…) and its Tax rate. Under Sizes & stock, turn on Count stock for anything you keep on the shelf, and add options such as 10kg and 25kg: each becomes a variant with its own SKU, barcode, price and stock.
  3. Services are what you charge for that isn't stock: Delivery (Lahore) at Rs 1,500.00 a trip, say. Items, then Services, then New service: a Name, a Price, what it's Charged by and its Tax rate. Its income goes to Service income, and it never counts stock.
  4. Stopped selling something? Archive it, under Archive or delete: it's out of the pickers for new invoices and bills, and every invoice, bill and stock history it's on stays exactly as it is. Only an item that's never been on an invoice, a bill or a stock adjustment can be deleted.
