Lesson 6 of 7 · 3 min

Overdue invoices and what customers owe

Overdue is worked out, never set. Customers shows what each one owes, and their Statement shows how it got there.

  1. Where an invoice stands is read, never typed: Unpaid until money comes in, Part paid when some has, Paid when it's all in, and Overdue from the day after its due date while anything's still owed.
  2. Sales → Customers

Sales, then Customers: each customer with what They owe and what's Overdue. The filters pick out everyone who Owes you, or is Overdue. Open a customer for their Statement, Invoices and Payments.
  3. Statement

When they ask how much they owe, their Statement tab says it, the way a khata reads: every invoice and payment in order, with the balance after each, down to what They owe now. Pick dates for a stretch, and what came before is brought forward.
  4. For everyone at once, Reports → Customers owe you puts each customer's balance by how late it is: Not due yet, 1–30 days, 31–60 days, 61–90 days and Over 90 days. Chase the oldest first; the Overview reminds you of overdue invoices too.
