Lesson 4 of 5 · 2 min

Counts and adjustments

Count the shelf, or put right what was damaged or found: valued at average cost, against Stock adjustments.

  1. Items → Adjustments

Items, then Adjustments, then New adjustment, and say what it is: Add or remove (five bags spoilt by rain), a Stock count (what's on the shelf right now: Ledger works out the difference), or Opening stock when you start. For one item, its Adjust and Count on Items → Stock do the same, and Count several counts many at once.
  2. Ledger says 90 bags of basmati; the godown has 85. Count it as 85, and the 5 fewer are taken off at the average cost, Rs 7,300 each: Rs 36,500 of stock you no longer have.
  3. It goes to Stock adjustments, a cost in your profit and loss, so lost stock shows up rather than hiding in the books. Found more than you thought? It comes back in the other way round.
